He’s a surfer, a super-fit donut lover and a down-to-earth model.
If he isn't surfing then you might find him CrossFit training, modelling or playing rugby. Whatever he’s doing, this guy is giving it his all. Grab a refreshment and pull up a chair as we take a dive into the wonderful world of Isaiah.
My name Isaiah comes from the bible.
I am half Fijian as my father is from Fiji and my mum is Australian. I was born in Tweed Heads. I have lived around a few places from out in the bush in Kooralbyn and Beaudesert to up in central Queensland in a little beach town called Yeppoon, but I’m currently living on the Gold Coast in Tugun, the best place on the coast.
I came across modelling randomly one day I saw Culture Kings was advertising a model search. I turned up to the audition and had to strike a few poses in front of the camera. It was definitely one of the most nerve wracking things I’ve done considering I had never modelled before. There was a whole line of people waiting to audition watching me pose in front of a camera. But eventually I got a call back and started doing a few gigs with them.
My favourite so far would be the studio shoots with Culture Kings. I feel like I learnt a lot from those shoots early in my career which has definitely helped me to become quite experienced and feel super relaxed around the camera. I feel like those shoots shaped me as a model as it got me out of my comfort zone and showed me what I am capable of.
I love surfing I find it super enjoyable and I love CrossFit - so much so coach I it part time at a gym in Currumbin. Between surfing on weekends and training CrossFit through the week I also play rugby union at Bond university. Over all I just enjoy having an active life style and keeping my body moving.
If I had the financial means I would be trying to chasing my dream of becoming an athlete in CrossFit and rugby union. I would put my everything into being a full time athlete - eat, sleep, train, repeat.
My left arm is designed from traditional Fijian patterns that were found on mats that my family game me. It represents my heritage and who I am. My right arm is a design I really resonated with full of patterns that I like. My chest piece also consists of it - cool patterns mixed with an Egyptian scarab beetle which is a symbol of death, rebirth, great power and guide and protecter in the afterlife.
An important issue I’m passionate about is climate change, if we don’t start giving back to Mother Nature we won’t have much of a world left to call home.
I really enjoyed the face painting component of the shoot. It was so awesome as I’ve never done anything like that and I just felt like the photos they took had so much raw feeling and culture in them. I thought it was an incredibly powerful way to convey the message.
I would for sure be a doughnut, I love them they’re the best food hands down. I even have one tattooed on my leg.
I would like to thank Life Apparel, I had really good time shooting with them and would be eager to participate in another shoot sometime.
