The Artwork

"It's a call to take pride in our identity, to find strength in our communities, not just today but tomorrow and into the future."

Into The Future

Embers Unite: Yesterday, Today and Future.

Created by First Nations visual artist and muralist Scott Rathman, a proud Eastern Arrernte man, currently residing on Kaurna Country.

"Fire brings us together, connecting Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal people. The burning wood releases smoke that carries the stories of the past, drifting among those gathered, connecting them to the history of these lands. It serves as a reminder that we, as Aboriginal people, are intrinsic to this place; our stories are interwoven with Country. Our past leads to our present, and our connection to our cultural heritage will shape our future.

Strong leaders stand tall, their knowledge imbued with the spirit passed down from our ancestors. The gathering around the fire symbolises a call for solidarity, not only to sit with but to unite the amplified voices of Aboriginal people. It's a call to take pride in our identity, to find strength in our communities, not just today but tomorrow and into the future."
