The Artwork

"...demonstrating to everyone that our culture and knowledge are still thriving."

Embers

Created by First Nations artist Brooke Foster, a proud Butchulla woman, currently residing on Yidinji Country (Queensland).

"I've drawn inspiration from the 2024 NAIDOC theme: Keep the Fire Burning! Blak, Loud, and Proud.

Through dance, we traded knowledge, weapons, stories, and established bonds between family groups. Today, we celebrate and come together for NAIDOC to showcase our culture through song, dance, artwork, jewellery making, weaving, fashion, and modelling, demonstrating to everyone that our culture and knowledge are still thriving."
