So, you may have noticed a gorgeous new face gracing the home page of our website, and who could blame you? This is the lovely Brooke Mackrill, a rising star in her own right who we are sure is destined for big things! Brooke was kind enough to take a few minutes away from her busy schedule of work and school to chat with us and tell us a little about the girl behind the photos and her recent shoot with us at the Life Apparel.
How and when did you start modelling?
I started modelling when I was 8 years old. I started because when I was younger I would always be embarrassed talking to people and going out in public. I would always hold onto my mum's legs. One day my mum thought it was a great idea to do a modelling course to boost my confidence, and from then on I loved it!
Which Indigenous language groups are you connected to?
My maternal tribal connection to country stems from my grandfather Lewis Williams whose connections are with the Wakka Wakka and Wulli Wulli Tribes. Further connections stem from my great great great grandmother Lizzie Anderson of the Kunggari tribe and my great great grandfather Sydney Williams of the Bidgera tribe located around the Augathella district in Queensland.
I see myself becoming a positive role model for indigenous teens... to show them that you're beautiful in your own skin.
What made you decide to work with Life Apparel?
I've always dreamed of working with Life Apparel because I always loved the designs and I wanted to show the world my culture through Life Apparel clothing.
What did you enjoy most about your recent shoot with us?
I enjoyed every part of it, it was such an interesting experience and I felt so welcomed! The outcome of the photos was definitely a standout moment for me.
Where do you see yourself in the near future?
I see myself as becoming a positive role model for indigenous teens and I hope to show them that you're beautiful in your own skin.
