 Language group: Ngarrindjeri

(South Australia)

Amanda is a Ngarrindjeri woman, born in Victor Harbor, South Australia in 1985. As a child, she experienced the best of both worlds living the farm life 12kms out of the coastal country town of Victor Harbor. Her father was a boat builder, so the water and the ocean have always been a big part of her life. Her painting style is contemporary Aboriginal dot art; the bright colours (from my hometown and the ocean) are represented through all my paintings.

Amanda has teamed up with Life Apparel Co to create a product specific, editioned artwork.

She is currently represented with one design in our retail collection.

Acrylic on canvas

For the Ngarrindjeri people, land has a spiritual and cultural connection and is deeply important to their identity and way of life. Amanda’s family is one of the oldest Aboriginal families on the south coast; by creating this piece she acknowledges the deep connection her family have with the land and the impact that Aboriginal women have made on their country. In this piece, she used a combination of ocean & earth colours to represent her small country town near the ocean.
