ARTIST BIO

Kim was born in 1991 in Maryborough, Queensland, but grew up in Darwin, Northern Territory. She is a descendant of the Bundjalung people from Northern New South Wales and is also a South Sea Islander woman with connections to Tanna Island, Vanuatu. In 2015, upon having her first child and seeking a creative outlet while being a stay-at-home mum, K-Rae Designs was born. Initially experimenting with ink and brush pens on paper, the acquisition of an iPad marked a turning point, and since she never looked back. Over the years, Kim has developed her own unique style of lettering and art.

Operating as a one-woman band, Kim does everything including drawing, lettering, designing, responding to DMs and emails, picking up printing, packaging, writing personalised thank you notes, postie runs...you name it! All while juggling #mumlife with 2 small kiddos.. When she is not busy, Kim enjoys spending time with her little family at the park or throwing back a few cheeky GnT's and busting a move to old school RnB.

"The majority of my work is big and bold - with strong uses of block colours (sorry, I'm not one for shading and texture dahling)."
