Introduction

Chloe is currently finishing a Bachelor of Art History & Curation at Monash University, which has allowed her to expand her opportunities and passion within the contemporary Indigenous Australian arts sector. She has worked in notable galleries, including D'Lan Contemporary in Melbourne/New York, and has been a member of the Indigenous art centre, Kaiela Arts in Shepparton, since 2020. She still currently holds a position as a board member and artist at Kaiela Arts. Additionally, her work has been exhibited in group shows at Kaiela. Her work has also been showcased in collaborations with various brands, both in Australia and internationally.

Drawing inspiration from the history of her Southern Eastern Indigenous Australian roots, her multidisciplinary approach to art aims to transcend conventional boundaries, inviting her audiences to delve into the complexities of Indigenous experiences.

With a commitment to storytelling and education, her work serves as a conduit for personal and cultural expression and social commentary. Through her evolving body of work, she aims to challenge preconceived notions of Indigenous art, weaving together traditional and contemporary techniques and narratives to redefine and expand the horizons of artistic possibility.

Embracing themes ranging from identity around ‘Blakness’ and ‘mixed race Indigeneity’ to decolonialism and community resilience, her work serves as a poignant reflection of the multifaceted realities faced by Southern Eastern Indigenous peoples in so-called ‘Australia’. She hopes her bold exploration of these themes not only sparks dialogue but also fosters a deeper understanding and appreciation for Indigenous cultures and the many identities and histories that exist within Indigenous Australian communities.

Driven by a relentless pursuit of truth and authenticity, she hopes her artistry serves as a beacon of empowerment, encouraging others to embrace their identity in its entirety and confront societal injustices with courage and resilience. Through transformative practices, she not only wishes to honour her people but also help pave the way for future generations to continue pushing the boundaries of artistic, cultural, and individual expression.

"Through transformative practices, I not only wish to honour my people but also help pave the way for future generations to continue pushing the boundaries of artistic, cultural and individual expression."
