Djuki Mala are Coming to Town

"Unique, infectious, high energy… like a confetti cannon point blank to the heart" is one way that Djuki Mala describe themselves. Well, if that doesn't sound like a good time I don't know what does. And we are lucky enough to have these guys visiting our home town this weekend! 

Direct from North East Arnhem Land, Indigenous dance sensations Djuki Mala bring a spectacular fusion of traditional dance, pop-culture and storytelling to the stage in their shows. We managed to pull them away from their busy touring schedule for a quick chat.

When people come to our show they laugh, they cry, but they also gain an insight into Yolngu culture.

So, what does the name Djuki Mala mean?
Djuki is the name of a bird in Yolngu Matha Language and Mala means a group of people.

How long have you been performing together?
Djuki Mala has been together for 12 years, though the cast has changed over that time.

What do you love most about what you do?
Touring to new places, touring the world with our family and sharing our stories.

What can audiences expect from your show DJUKI MALA?
