The Artwork

We rely on our Elders to guide and support us in the fight for equality.

Equality

Created by First Nations artist Glenda McCulloch, a Kalkadoon woman from Kalkatungu country.

"We paint our traditional homelands (Kalkatungu country) heavily focusing on the landscape because it is very special to us. We draw inspiration from these connections and vivid memories. We use traditional shapes and symbols and an unrestricted palette to create a modern interpretation of our traditional culture.

This artwork depicts a journey line and human walking tracks. These tracks represent the journey through life as young people. The figures in the centre of the artwork represent children gathered together. We are surrounded by the elders in our community. We rely on them to guide and support us in the fight for equality."
