Rachel Sarra - The Story Behind the Artist

So much of what we do at Life Apparel is about storytelling. It is one of the things that sets us apart, and something that we are extremely proud of. Each and every product we create is inspired by a personal story. And we couldn’t do this without our collaborating artists, and their willingness to share their artwork and experiences with us. And so we decided to bring to light some of the real life stories behind a few of our collaborating artists.

So, without further ado, we are thrilled to give you an insight into Rachael Sarra's story. Beyond being a gifted artist and designer, Rachael is also an intelligent, articulate and influential young woman, who is fast becoming a youthful voice for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander culture and is an inspiration to other young women and men within the community.

We visited Rachael in her home in Ipswich, Queensland. We had the pleasure of seeing the artist at work and hear all about her story. We were lucky enough to meet some of her family members, including the furriest member of the family - Franklin the pug (who, quite honestly, stole the show!)

Collaborating with people in different environments is a really powerful way to share our stories.

In this mini-documentary, Rachael explains the motivation behind her work as an artist, discusses her collaboration with Life Apparel and touches on some other issues that are close to her heart.
